This is Raman…

He was born in Iran but had to flee because of his political views. After his house was raided by officials, he decided that staying in his country was too much of a risk for him and his family so he decided to take the long journey from Iran to the UK with his brother.
Unfortunately, Raman had to leave his young daughter behind who is now four and a half years old and even though they speak on the phone regularly, he worries that he’s missed the best years of her life and is sad that he hasn’t been able to watch her grow.
It took Raman and his brother almost two years to make the difficult journey from Iran to the UK, travelling by foot, sleeping on the streets with no money and only the clothes on their back. Eventually, they were separated when they made the final crossing across the English channel. Raman hasn’t seen his brother since.
Thank you to Raman for sharing his story with us so that we can continue to spread awareness of the journeys that refugees and asylum seekers must take to reach safety here in the UK, specifically in Cardiff.
